In reading several (disturbingly) interesting articles about dog fighting, I’m curious how underground operations – be them fight circles, dance clubs or drug rings – operate successfully without marketing to the masses. Corporations hire marketing agencies to up their bottom line by reaching target audiences; even university Greek life has its initiation and Panhellinic to market and govern. Who (and how) gets the word out successfully when it comes to hush-hush companies – mind you success being increasing profit via money and drugs? Excuse the naivety; however, it’s baffling. Perhaps there are initiations so cruel and trembling that no one would dare break the promise to fork-over $X to participate or bring in X new trustworthy members without breaking details to the outside – above ground – world.
