Looking for Social Media/PR Pro

Rarely a trend follower, BG is looking to hire rather than fire. Hey, someone needs to get off the dime with this stimulus package thing, so we’ll take the first step.

We’re looking for a junior account person who is passionate about the blending of public relations and social media. The ideal candidate will:

  • Engage with online communications strategies via social networks
  • Bring an understanding of consumer-generated media and related web-based environments
  • Bring experience with blogs and other online communications and new media (podcasts, online press rooms, video etc.)
  • Have strong ability to write, pitch and engage with both media and bloggers
  • Creatively strategize ways to leverage social media activities
  • Monitor trends in social media tools, trends and applications
  • Bring 2 – 3 years of experience, preferably at a PR agency though not required
  • Have a great attitude

    Paul, I agree, definitely a hot spot. Social media has created a lot of opportunities not only for PR professionals but for consumers who now have a voice in the democratized new media environment. There’s a learning curve for companies; those ahead of the curve are engaging with their consumers via integrated social media channels, there are those who acknowledge social media’s ability to reach consumers but don’t posses the ability to leverage that knowledge, and there are those who would rather wait and follow the successes of others.
