Hi, I’m Katie! I see no one else has taken advantage of this space yet so I thought I should leave a comment and let you know why I would be a great intern. I decided to go back to the basics (meaning things we learned to do in grade school) and make an acronym for my name! This may be a little bit cheesy, but my name just seems to lend itself perfectly to what I want to let you know about myself. So, here goes…
Kooky. This may not be the best word choice to give a potential employee, but I think it is important because it shows my individuality. I do not want to be your typical intern. Anyone can be a good worker, but I think it is my personality and creative nature that will help me exceed your expectations, and make me a great (and yes, maybe a little bit kooky) worker.
Ambitious. Like previously stated, I do not want to be your typical intern. I see this internship as an opportunity to not only learn as much as possible and improve my communication skills, but also to get my foot in the door of the public relations and advertising industry in San Diego. My hopes are that your company will love me as much as I believe I will love your company, and that I will be able to continue working with Bailey Gardiner when the internship is over.
Team-player. For as long as I can remember I have loved being around people. I enjoy working collaboratively with others and I think a job is done best when the viewpoints of everyone are taken into account. I am very outgoing and personable and always work well others!
Independent. Even though I love to be around people, I can also take direction and get work done by myself. I recently graduated college at the University of Wisconsin, and while all my friends who graduated went back to their home towns in Wisconsin and Minnesota, I decided to take the road less traveled. I packed up my ‘98 Ford Taurus and prayed that it would make it through the mountains and desert to San Diego. I made it here, quickly found a part time job to finance my living expenses, and having been making my way by myself ever since. So, I am capable of doing things on my own, just give me a little direction and I can make it happen.
Experienced. Most of my adjectives have described my personality, but it is important that you know I have previous experience in public relations and marketing. I have prior agency experience at a major fashion PR firm in London, where I helped to coordinate and manage account materials for major events and promotions, while also assisting in weekly media coverage reports and acting as the point of contact between designers, editors, and major publications. In addition to this experience, I have marketing and sales experience from my work as a Campus Representative and as a Marketing and Promotions Intern. As the Campus Representative for The Student Groove Card I learned how to stay organized and detail-oriented when dealing with multiple clients, as well as different deadlines. Also, as the Marketing and Promotions Intern I assisted the Promotions Director for a major Clear Channel radio station in organizing and scheduling events and promotions, while also helping with office duties, website updates, and on-site event preparation. All of this experience, along with the numerous jobs I have worked in customer service and the service industry (in order to finance my finance my education) have given me a strong work ethic and taught me how to always go above and beyond and exceed the expectations of my employers.
I hope this gives you an idea of who I am and why I would make a great intern. I just emailed you my resume so you can look everything over. I hope to hear back from you soon!
