Advertising wars: Audi vs. BMW edition
Dear Audi,
I thought you were so bold when you came up with this:
Until BMW came out with this:
Audi … FAIL. Well, at least outdoor advertising isn’t hurting in Santa Monica.
Thanks for sharing, @MayaBY!

I love this! That is truly clever. . .Poor Audi.
This is an outstanding example of genius media placement. The agency either has an impeccable eye on the competition, or inside knowledge.
And here we thought a Scholar’s Mate was phenomenal…BMW just won the game in one move!
(I oddly sound like I belong in a chess club meeting- along with the folks at BMW!)
Dude, that is awesome! Nice find Kevinie. And I agree, the media buy placement is sheer genius.
A testimony to the results of directly challenging a worthy opponent! Good thing it’s two brands that stand up to the test. Also a clever way for Grey-West to pump up the scope and urgency of the BMW account. Media buyers take note – this is a great illustration how a location can make or break a campaign. The message would fall flat were it not positioned in direct proximity to the billboard that issued the dare to BMW. I wonder how many buys they were able to execute side by side with the competition?
Audi should have put up the R8, BMW has nothing comparable at the moment…
Now we’re talkin’, Alex! Touche. Big fan of the R8. =)
Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
